Lagree Fitness: Iris Mittenaere launches Lagree club by Iris in Toulouse

A new fitness craze is being championed in France by former Miss France Iris Mittenaere. But what exactly is Lagree Fitness, a discipline that’s easy to mistake for Pilates?

Nothing seems to slow Iris Mittenaere down. After winning Miss France in 2015 and then being crowned Miss Universe in 2016, she has continued to surprise people by adding one new string to her bow after another: television presenter, radio contributor, lead performer at the Paradis Latin, and social media influencer. Now she is turning her attention to a sports project that looks set to generate a lot of buzz.

Iris Mittenaere, Lagree Fitness and the Toulouse partnership

A keen Lagree Fitness enthusiast, Iris Mittenaere has teamed up with Happyness Studio, a gym in Toulouse. The result is the launch of Lagree club by Iris, which aims to push this emerging workout into must-try territory.

Everyone a fan of Lagree Fitness?

Lagree Fitness comes straight from the United States and is widely seen as the fitness trend of the moment. This Pilates-inspired method has taken off across the Atlantic-particularly in Los Angeles-so it’s hardly surprising that it is gradually spreading and gaining traction in France.

Lagree combines Pilates-style movements with strength training and cardio. Described as a method that is “low impact and high efficiency”, it involves slow, controlled yet demanding movements, along with holding positions on specialised equipment designed to target the muscles deeply and effectively.

From Paris studios to Lagree club by Iris

Unsurprisingly, Lagree has swept through Paris gyms. However, this new discipline has also moved beyond the capital and set up in Toulouse. Better still, it has won over the former Miss France and Miss Universe herself. Iris Mittenaere enjoyed it so much that she struck up a partnership with Happyness Studio in Toulouse, which has been offering Lagree sessions for several months.

Xavier Verbeke, who runs Happyness Studio, explained how the collaboration came about: “Iris paid for her session, she came once, then came back, then came back again. She now comes regularly. We get on well, and that’s how we decided to form a partnership that became ‘Lagree club by Iris’. It’s a way for her to thank her followers on social media. Iris invites people who follow her account to come and take part in a Lagree session. In Toulouse, 20 people were invited. They took part in a session and spent some time with Iris. Then she handed out gifts.” Quite the plan.

And the former beauty queen doesn’t appear to be stopping there. On Instagram, Iris Mittenaere looked back on this first meet-up-both tough and fun-and asked her followers which city should host the next one. “We’ll go to the city with the most comments, so go for it!” she said.
